Sharjah UAE Tourism Market Positioning Pays Off

The Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates has been increasingly and successfully positioning itself as a diverse family destination. According to Director General Mohamed A. Al Noman, Sharjah is a complete holiday destination for all sorts and categories of international tourists.   “Sharjah attracts both the East and the West and European travellers as well as Gulf and Middle East visitors,” he said.    From the Sharjah Water Festival to the Sharjah Light Festival and from Sharjah Biennial to International Book Fair, not to mention the great shopping opportunities it offers and its great outdoors and beaches.

In July, Sharjah experienced an 18 per cent rise in visitor numbers with 141,484 guests and during the Ramadan and Eid break, the emirate’s hotels and hotel apartment attracted more than 90,000 guests. Around 43% of the visitors were from the GCC, but they were closely followed by Europeans at 37%.
